Renowned to be the inventor of the soft serve, Tom Carvel revolutionized the ice cream industry by selling soft serve ice cream from his truck in Hartsdale, New York in 1929. Carvel then went on to open the first ever ice cream retail store in 1936. In 1951, the company celebrated the opening of their 100th store.
